PATERSON – State troopers last week arrested three on drug charges after a traffic stop revealed the trio to be carrying thousands of bags of heroin, a state police spokesman said.

Mark Frye, 32, of Paterson, Jaquaisa Harrison, 25 of Paterson, and Lanesha Harrison, 23, face multiple charges including possession of heroin, intent to distribute a controlled and dangerous substance and possession of marijuana, Sgt. Adam Grossman said.

State troopers Joseph Serrecchia and Muhammad Makkaoui just after midnight on Feb. 17 stopped the three in their car at the corner of Ward and Cianci streets in Paterson, Grossman said.

After smelling burnt marijuana, the officers investigated the car, uncovering two ziplock baggies containing 200 bricks, roughly 10,000 bags of heroin, under several articles of clothing in the back seat, police said. Police valued the seized drugs at roughly $60,000.

A judge imposed a bail of $250,000 cash for Frye, who was seated in the back at the time of the vehicle stop, Grossman said. Some $6,908 in cash Frye carried that night was also seized.

Police also found outstanding warrants issued for Jaquaisa and Lanesha Harrison stemming from alleged violations in Clifton and Paterson. The two were released after officers contacted the warrants’ issuing authorities, he said.
