Boomer is missing from your life

The spring and summer months can be very busy. There are graduation parties, weddings, baby showers and birthday parties. There are houses that need spring cleaning and a fresh coat of paint and lawns that need flowers planted.

And perhaps with all the activity and work, you sense something is missing from your life. You have been thinking about adding a canine companion and perhaps now might be the right time to look for one.

The West Milford Animal Shelter has many dogs, cats and kittens available for adoption. All of them need new homes and families, none more than a gentle dog named Boomer.

Boomer's previous living conditions were far from ideal and the volunteers at the shelter are hoping he gets a much deserved second chance and a new beginning.

Boomer is a mix breed - perhaps part loyal German Shepherd and brilliant Border Collie. He is a gentlemen of a dog. If other dogs at the shelter are barking and jumping around, he is the opposite. He is calm, dignified and poised. He is a sweet, old soul.

Boomer loves to lounge in a room at the shelter that is set-up like a living room with three futon couches and toys. He is very happy for the companionship of the volunteers who take time to sit, play and talk to him. He loves people and people love him.

But Boomer is not a couch potato. He loves to go for walks and walks nicely on a leash. He will walk quietly at your side and look lovingly up into your face. He is glad to have a companion and friend.

Boomer also can be very playful and likes to bounce around and play ball. He enjoys playing but when play time is over, he will graciously go inside and settle down for some quiet time.

Boomer would love to meet you. If you would like to meet him, visit the shelter on Lycosky Drive (behind recycling) Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday evenings 7:30 to 9 p.m.
