Wagner a good choice for mayor

    To the Editor:
With the departure of my close friend and next door neighbor, Mayor Bettina Bieri, West Milford residents are faced with selecting a new mayor.
My choice is Acting Mayor Tim Wagner.
On Nov. 6, West Milford’s residents will vote for Township Council members and the mayor.
Together they will decide on how our property taxes are spent.
To use our property taxes more effectively, Tim Wagner, our interim mayor, suggested moving the building-related departments to the old library building so that residents can do “one stop shopping.”
Our previous Mayor Bettina Bieri supported that idea.
    Tim has extensive business experience.
His role on the town Facilities Assessment Committee, along with his work on the town budgets, resulted in zero tax increases for 2017 and 2018.
Tim spearheaded the current cost-efficiency audit, which will result in further savings.
One of my concerns, as Pine Cliff Lake’s past environmental trustee, is lake and stream water quality, especially at Greenwood and Pinecliff Lakes.
In that regard, Tim recommended cutting lake contamination from “road grits” and sediment in catch basins near those waters.
Tim testified at the New Jersey State Senate Environmental Commission to bring West Milford a $500,000 grant for Greenwood Lake.
    Tim is an effective spokesperson.
He is also an effective leader for the council and for the town as a whole.
That is important as the mayor is the primary leader representing the town in interactions with other towns’ leaders and with the state and federal governments.
In sum, as interim mayor, Tim Wagner has been outstanding.
So I encourage residents to vote in the Nov. 6 election, Row C, for Tim Wagner to continue as mayor.
