Cardinal Art Gallery exhibits watercolors by Joan Ross

Vernon - Watercolorist Joan Ross, of Highland Lakes, will be present from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, at the Cardinal Art Gallery, located on the comer of Route 94 and Vernon Crossing Road in Vernon. Original paintings and limited edition artwork by Ross will be on exhibition at the gallery and available for sale through June 18. Ross is an award-winning watercolorist, who paints with appreciation of the rural beauty that surrounds her. Her subjects include gentle lakes, quiet woodlands, historic farms and scenes that depict her love of nature. She has served on juries of awards and selection committees and has demonstrated for art organizations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Her paintings have been exhibited at the National Academy, the Salmagundi Club, the Trotter Museum. Noyes Museum, Monmouth Museum, Waterloo Village, Newington Cropsey Museum, Morris Museum, Clifton Arts Center and the Barn Galleries. In addition, she was recently presented with an award for environmental achievement and community volunteerism by the Vernon Chamber of Commerce. Ross has had several one-woman shows. In addition to private collections, her paintings are included in various public and corporate collections throughout the U.S. She was also selected as an official U.S. Coast Guard artist, where she expanded her work to include seascapes. “If you’re looking for a painting that captures the essence of Sussex County and the surrounding areas, you owe it to yourself to stop by and see this showing of Joan’s work,” said Bob Wilson, owner of the Cardinal Art Gallery.
