WEST MILFORD — Sunday, Sept. 11 started out with a solemn ceremony at St. Joseph Church to remember those who died that day 15 years ago. Then, parishioners came together in fellowship for the parish's annual picnic.
The Knights of Columbus Father Koch Council 6343 cooked plenty of hamburgers and hot dogs, while parishioners brought a side dish or dessert to share.
They also officially welcomed the parish's new administrator, Fr. Aleksander Bialas.
Fr. Aleks, as he is known, is from Wejherowo in northern Poland. He has been a priest for four years, serving at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln Park and Holy Spirit in Pequannock. He said he is happy at St. Joseph Church here in West Milford and loves the people and the area's history, which is one of his interests as well as trains.
It truly was a beautiful day.
