Sparta — The Sparta Education Foundation is finalizing donations and auction items for its “Cabaret on the Boardwalk,” scheduled for Saturday, March, 29, at Lake Mohawk Country Club. “Cabaret on the Boardwalk,” is the largest fundraiser for the foundation, a non-profit organization formed to benefit the Sparta public schools. Its mission is to bring positive awareness, raise funds, encourage private and public fundraising relationships and distribute funds for programs or initiatives that otherwise would not have funding exclusively for the benefit of the Sparta public schools. “We have something for everyone and wonderful surprises for the attendees of Cabaret this year,” said Suzann Schroepfer one of the event organizers. “I thought we had great items last year, but this year, our attendees will be extremely pleased with the level and the quality of items available in our live and silent auctions,” said Kylen Anderson, another event coordinator. “This should really be a wonderful philanthropic event for all involved but especially for our community, our children and our public schools, the outpouring of support from the event sponsors and auction donors have shown we can do so much more when we come together as a community,” said Schroepfer. “Cabaret is a wonderful way to get together with family, friends and neighbors who share a common goal, positively impacting our public schools and making our community better,” said Schroepfer. This year’s auction items include: • An exquisite 6-bedroom, 5-bath Tuscan Villa donated by RCI Global Vacation Network, • Disneyworld vacation at Bonnet Creek Resort, Florida including park hopper passes to Disneyworld donated by Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Walt Disneyworld, • Luxurious European River Cruise, the winner will choose their vessel and itinerary from France, Holland or Germany, donated by American Dream Vacations & Edward DeChant of Sparta. The evening’s popular items are back such as, “Your child driven to school in a Limousine” donated by Patrick’s Limousine, “Your child driven to school in a Police Car,” donated by Sparta Police Department and Chief Ernie Reigstad. This year there will also be “Your child driven to school in a Fire Engine,” donated by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is the principal’s secretary at Mohawk Avenue and her husband owns the beautifully restored 1970 Crown Firecoach. And of course, “Mayor for a day,” for your child. • “DJ for a Day” with a radio personality from our local Clear Channel radio stations is a new auction item for this year. “We expect this one to be one of the favorites that evening,” said Anderson. “It’s an amazing opportunity for a child and one that will be a lot of fun,” said Anderson. Attendees will bid for an opportunity to have your child spend time with the DJ on air and learn what goes on behind the scenes to put on a radio show. • Dinner certificates from The Mohawk House, Doc’s Restaurant, Arthurs, Casa Mia, Café Pierrot, Vineyards Restaurant and Bar, Village Saloon, Villa Capri; overnight stays at The Wooden Duck, The Whistling Swan Inn, Brick House B & B, Wyndham Worldwide, event tickets and much more. • The Foundation will have many local artists displaying their artwork this year.
