Heaven Hill Farm celebrates ‘How sweet it is' corn fest

Vernon - Hobnob with the cob crowd the weekend of Sept. 23 and 24 at Heaven Hill Farm’s annual Sweet Corn Festival. Heaven Hill Farm wishes to share fresh corn with community and friends. Festivities will be held from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. The event includes a Hay Maize or Hay Crawl, and a giant corn stalk teepee or climbing to the top of our “Hay Mountain,” Music will be provided by “The Cadillac Cowboys.” One of our Cadillac Cowboys will also host other fiddle activities throughout the day including an open fiddle jam session. The farm will have “Pigtuckey Derby” pig races. Other activities include an extensive petting zoo, including our new goat walk, amusement rides, giant corn-box full of dried kernels that the tots can pop around in, and more. There will even be activities for the hardcore competitor, including a corn shucking contest and sweet corn eating contest. For the true corn connoisseur, there will be a cornucopia of culinary corn treats. Try homemade corn chowder or corn tamales, corn dogs, corn fritters and, not to be left out, the good old time favorite - corn on the cob picked fresh from the farm that day.
