Highlanders Winterguard to perform at Eden Farms April 20

    WEST MILFORD - The award winning West Milford High School Highlanders Indoor Colorguard/Winterguard will be performing as featured guests at the Eden Farms Plant Nursery on Saturday, April 20.
    The students will be helping the community celebrate spring and the Easter holiday as they perform sections of their 2019 program, “Rascally Thieves" and help raise funds for the Colorguard Program.
    About the West Milford Colorguard
    According to Colorguard information posted on the Highlander Band's website: "West Milford Colorguard is a pageantry orientated performance ensemble. This group visually interprets selected musical repertoire utilizing flags, rifles, sabers and other props together with dance moves, original choreography, and traditional marching techniques."
    The Colorguard performs as a unit along with with the Highlander Marching Band in the Fall.
    At the conclusion of the Marching Band season, the Colorguard performs an indoor routine as a stand-alone Winterguard unit at competitions across the United States.
    According to the website, "The West Milford Colorguard has been recognized over the years as both MAIN and WGI medalists."

    The Highlanders Winterguard recently took home the second place trophy as Silver Medalists in the Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Winter Guard Championships on March 30 at Trumbull High School in Trumbull, Conneticut.
    On March 31, the Winterguard competed in the 2019 USBANDS Indoor Championships at Fair Lawn High School, and came home Gold Medalists as the first place USBANDS Scholastic A Indoor Colorguard Champs.
    The Indoor Colorguard travelled to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the Winter Guard International (WGI) Color Guard World Championships from April 3-6.
    They finished third in its division for the preliminary round, and were seeded above the top 64 out of 140 competing colorguards entering the semifinals.
    Fundraising at Eden Farms
    The Highlanders Winterguard "Wabbits" will be happily hopping around at Eden Farms Plant Nursery at 1665 Union Valley Road in West Milford on Saturday, April 20.
    The “Rascally Thieves" will be spinning veggie flags in their bunny costumes, greeting community members and ringing in the spring as they try to raise money for their colorguard program.
    The Winterguard will have a can handy for cash donations, and Eden Farms has generously offered to donate a portion of the sales for that day to the Highlanders Colorguard Program.
