NETCONG-The award-winning novel "Holes," recreated into a stage version by its author, Louis Sacher, makes its New Jersey premier Friday, Jan. 28-Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Growing Stage Theatre, in Netcong. Performances are 7:30 p.m., Fridays; and 4 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children and senior citizens; season and group rate tickets are also available. In the story, Stanley Yelnauts IV is falsely accused of stealing Clyde "Sweet Feet" Livingston's shoe donation to a local orphanage and will go to jail or "Camp Green Lake," where he will be forced to dig large holes in the desert each day. But what the warden is really trying to do is find a buried treasure that was murderer "Kissing" Kate Barlow's fortune years ago. When Stanley and his friend, Zero, escape, things get really bad. Told through flashbacks of Stanley's family and the mystery of Green Lake, this stage adaptation recreates the suspense, humor, and tragedy in the pages of the original work. The Growing Stage is the only professional member theatre of the Actor's Equity Association in New Jersey solely dedicated to young people. In 2000, the Growing Stage was named the "Outstanding Arts Organization of Morris County" by The Arts Council of the Morris Area.
