SUSSEX COUNTY-The Women's Center staff and core advisory group is hosting an open house from noon-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16. This will be an afternoon of food, great conversation, music, and a look at the changing, growing center. The Women's Center is located on the first floor of D Building on the Newton Campus. The center offers a welcoming and safe environment for all members of the college and the larger community to celebrate individuality, promote self-empowerment, and foster collaborative work toward a non-discriminatory, non-oppressive community. With the support of both on- and off-campus women's organizations, the center offers a range of educational programs and services, coordinates support groups, and provides information on and referrals to human service agencies and community organizations. The resources of the center are open to women and men as well as to both students and members of the greater Sussex County community. Beginning on Friday, Sept. 17, the Women's Center will be hosting a lunch discussion series. Drinks will be offered to go along with the lunch participants bring with them. The Discussion Series will meet at 12:30. The first three topics are: Sept. 17 - Domestic Violence - The Work and the workers, led by Gwen Federico, Domestic Abuse Services, Inc.
