SUSSEX COUNTY-The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council will present its tenth Pentimento Exhibition of Fine Arts featuring the work of county art educators. This year's show "One WorldTwo Views" features the work of John Roppolo and Louis Jay Schweitzer. Both men teach at Vernon Township High School. "One WorldTwo Views" is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. The show is located on the third floor of the Judicial building at 43-47 High St., Newton. Admission is free. Roppolo, formerly of Warwick, NY, now resides in Lafayette. He received his BFA from SUNY New Paltz, NY, and did graduate work at both Fordham University and New Paltz. He has also studied with internationally known Fine Art Photographer Paul Caponigro. Schweitzer graduated summa cum laude with a BA in art education and an MA in fine arts. Both degrees are from Montclair State University. He lives in Pine Island, NY. Roppolo has been a fine art photographer for over thirty years. His work has been exhibited widely in and around the Hudson Valley and New York City. Notable exhibitions include the Middletown Arts Center, Middletown, NY; Exposures Gallery, Sugar Loaf, NY; the Floating foundation of Photography, NYC; Foto Gallery, SoHo, NY; the Gallery at Bristol-Myers, Princeton; and the Morris Museum, Morristown. Schweitzer has exhibited his work in various venues in the tri-state area, including New York City and the Morris Museum as well as in a show in Austria. He also co-illustrated Cooking Up the Pyramid: An Early Childhood Curriculum by Katherine M. Brieger. Roppolo is exhibiting 30 works: nine black-and-white gelatin silver prints, three black-and-white infrared gelatin silver prints, three hand-colored gelatin silver prints, two platinum prints, two pinhole photographs, one silver print, one polaroid transfer print, and eight mixed-media collages. All of his works are processed archivally by hand, mounted and matted for permanence; all are offered in signed limited editions. Schweitzer is exhibiting 27 photographs, 23 of which are sepia-toned black and white silver prints, two of which are hand painted black-and-white silver prints, and two of which are blac- and-white silver prints. A closing reception to honor the artists will be held on November 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited at no charge. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 973-383-0027.
