Sugar Loaf. Worldwide classical Chinese dancers to compete in Sugar Loaf
Aspiring classical Chinese dancers from around the globe will put their skills to the test at the 9th NTD International Classical Chinese Dance Competition at Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center, 1351 Kings Highway, on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5.
Classical Chinese dance is distinct from ballet or modern dance. There are four essential components of the dance, which have been passed down and refined over thousands of years: form, bearing, dance technique and tumbling technique.
More than 100 dancers will compete in front of an audience and a panel of judges.
Audience members are invited to attend the semi-finals on Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. and the finals on Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. The awards ceremony will be held on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 per day.
