Lake Hopatcong — Eight Days of Blues and Rob Cannillo & Friends will take the stage at Camp Jefferson’s lakeside amphitheatre under the stars on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The Labor Day weekend concert is sponsored and produced by Jefferson Highlights Community Television. (Rain date: Aug. 31.) The six-piece Eight Days of Blues will perform both original and Chicago blues in their own style, blending Latin, jazz, rock, and traditional R&B. Fronted by Lance Casper of Montague, with Sparta resident Bill Hemberger and Vernon resident Don Sandberg on drums, Mary Jasch of Augusta on keyboard, Warren County’s own Ken Nerbak on bass, and Orange County resident Glen Juengling on rhythm and lead guitar. “We have our own style and sound and we don’t cover anyone,” Casper says. “We take songs done by blues greats and work them into our style and sound. Expect to give your ears and feet a treat.” Rob Cannillo & Friends open the evening with some electric soul. Cannillo, a regional singer/songwriter/guitarist whose tunes blend soul with a bit of folk and blues, fronts the Hudson Valley band. Big Will Smith appears on saxophone, Neal Grover on keyboards, and Rick Pisani on drums. The band will perform new songs and rework some old cover tunes by Muddy Waters and The Band. “People can expect a concert will include some really soulful, emotional and really fun tunes,” said Cannillo. Tickets: $20/adult; $10/age 62 and over and kids under 12. Listeners are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
