VERNON-Fifty-three Vernon Township High School Marketing students contributed to an outstanding performance at the Northern Region "DECA" Conference held at Morris County College on Jan. 4. Top students will have the opportunity to compete at the New Jersey DECA State Leadership Conference in Cherry Hill in March. First-place overall team winners and individual instructional area awards include Allie DeCesare and Stephanie Biggianni, Matt Masterson and Dave Vitone, and Joe Breed and Dan Cimorelli. Kevin Stubing and Bill Keller took first place overall in their individual series event. Courtney Courter took second place overall as did the team of Allie DeCesare, Dan Cimorelli, Matt Dizenzo and Tim Seger in the Academic Quiz Bowl event. Third place overall honors include the teams of Matt Dizenzo and Tim Seger and Ryan Fitzpatrick and Alex Kepchar. Brianna Capuano took third place overall in her individual series event. Vernon students who received Instructional Awards and will continue to compete at the state competition include Melinda Jensen, Ryan Anzelone, Heather VanPut, Pam Bernier, Allison Kulik, Jess Vogt, and Michael Roux. All students competed in both a written test, a problem-solving role-play case study event or promotional presentation. Students were judged by local North Jersey business people who contribute their time and expertise in order to make this conference successful. These events are based on career areas in marketing and management. More than 1,200 marketing students throughout the north "Gold" division attended the conference. The following students qualified in their respective events and will be competing at the State Leadership Conference: Christie Beatie, Shaunte Cseh, Joe Tamburo, Dan Dizenzo, George Gabadian, Kevin Braitch, Carly Ebers, Adam Romano, Erik Kwitchoff, Kevin Grice, Dan Cox, Paul Landowski, Lara Frankoski, Ian Vandergroef, Caitlin Platania, Jaime Schottenfeld, Adam Rebisz, and Danielle Ritchie.
