WEST MILFORD You won't have to go far for good theater this weekend and next. The West Milford Players are performing "The Curious Savage" at the Hillcrest Community Center.
Written by John Patrick, "The Curious Savage" is about a woman who has inherited $10 million but her eager step-children wish to assist her in disbursing the funds. After being institutionalized by them, Mrs. Savage discovers various social misfits who need the help she can provide.
This comedy leaves the audience feeling that the neglected virtues of kindness and affection have not been entirely lost in a world that seems, at times, to only be motivated by greed and dishonesty.
The show stars Scott Coburn, Deborah Guarino, Taylor Gautier, Kenn Hendricks, Brandon Nichols, Katy O'Neill, Lori Rose, Marcus Scrimgeour, Kalyn Shaible, Grace Soriano and Andrew Till.
Shows are on Friday and Saturday, May 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 13 and 20, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15, $13 for students and seniors.
The West Milford Players have been doing local, live theater since 1980. In addition to bringing live theater to the area, with each show performed, the group supports a charity of their choosing where a portion of the proceeds will help those in need. A portion of the receipts from "The Curious Savage" will be donated to NewBridge.
