West Milford Players to present 'Disaster: The Musical'
West Milford. The West Milford Players are preparing a show for next month that pays homage to disaster movies of the 1970s. The show, "Disaster: The Musical," is scheduled to open Feb. 7 at The Theater in Macopin Middle School.
If you liked the disaster films, and music of the 1970s, The West Milford Players have a show for you starting Feb. 7.
"Disaster: The Musical" features some of the hottest songs from the 70's including I am Woman, Knock on Wood, Hooked on a Feeling, Hot Stuff, and Sky High.
It's 1979 and New York's hottest "A-Lister's" are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque.
Also attending is a faded disco queen. a night club singer with her 11 year old twins, a disaster expert, an older couple with a secret, young men looking for some hot chicks, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun that has a secret of her own.
Fun turns to panic when the ship succumbs to multiple disasters such as tidal waves, infernos and earthquakes (not to mention rats).
Audiences will be tapping and laughing along to the many musical hits in this show.
As always, The West Milford Players is using some of the proceeds to donate to a non profit organization.
"We could not think of a better tie in to a show that takes place on water then to help marine wildlife and the conservation of our oceans," Erika Crocco, president of The Players said in a press release. "We have chosen The New York Aquarium to help the endangered species, The Black Footed Penguin, and any additional funds will be donated to the clean up of our Ocean Waters. We are so pleased to help the aquarium and its commitment to helping endangered species and keeping our waters safe."
Performances will be at The Theater at Macopin Middle School, 70 Highlander Drive in West Milford.
Performance dates are Feb. 7-8 and 14-15 at 8 p.m., and Feb. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors/students.

A minimum amount of tickets will be sold at the door.
