Fond farewell to President of Friends of West Milford Township Library for 22 years, Marty Tappan
West Milford, NJ - The Friends of the West Milford Township library, at their General Open Meeting on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, paid tribute to their President, Marty Tappan. Marty is stepping down after twenty-two years of service as the President of the Friends. The Friends of the West Milford Township Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization, consisting of local West Milford residents, who are committed to helping the library.
Through Marty Tappan’s leadership, foresight, and vision, the Friends’ efforts have helped the library grow its collection, its programs, its services, its readership, and its electronic devices. Marty Tappan has helped to grow the Friends’ membership, and promote interest in the library through the Friends many fundraising efforts, such as its annual membership drive, book sales, and special programs and events.
The Friends of the West Milford Township Library showed their gratitude for Marty Tappan’s contributions, by awarding her a plaque, giving her the title “President Emerita,” honoring her twenty-two years of service. The plaque from JLH Engraving, is to be displayed in the library. The Friends also awarded her an original custom-designed pin from J. Alexander Fine Jewelers, with an engraved Friends of the Library logo. Last but not least, she was given a dozen pink roses, arranged by West Milford Florists.
Some of the library trustees were also present. Jim Rogers, Vice President of the Trustees, read a letter from the Library Board President, Dr. Joan Oberer, honoring Marty’s dedication in supporting the library, and her many years of service. Sandy Nebel, Secretary of the Trustees, announced that the Trustees will plant a lilac bush later this spring, honoring Marty’s 22 years of dedicated service. New officers were voted in, and refreshments were served.
