David R. Cedrone of West Milford entered eternal life on Friday, April 23, 2021 after a long struggle with early-onset Parkinson’s disease and more recently ALS, surrounded by the love of his family and with his devoted wife Patricia by his side. He was 68 years old.
David, son of Daniel and Emma Cedrone, was born and raised in Paterson, N.J. He attended School 25 in Paterson and Pope Pius XII High School in Passaic.
David went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration at Seton Hall University where he met his wife, Patricia.
They married in 1975 and lived briefly in Wayne before moving to West Milford, where they raised their family.
David went on to earn his Certified Public Accountant’s license and his Master’s Degree in Taxation at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
David experienced a fulfilling career as a CPA, beginning as the Budget Director for Passaic County. He went on to become a staff member of Indirect Cost Consultants.
David experienced the merger of several major chemical companies, working first with American Cyanamid, then American Home Products and finally retiring from BASF Corp.
He also had a small private accounting practice through which his many clients became devoted friends.
David was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and was a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
He also devoted years of service to the Boy Scouts of America, starting when he and Patricia founded Pack 159 in Hewitt. A proud Scouter and father, his three sons all became Eagle Scouts, and his daughter earned her Gold Award.
David’s faith led him to be of service to the Parish of Our Lady Queen of Peace for more than 40 years, first as Lector, Finance Chairman, and Trustee, and then culminating with his ordination as Deacon of the Paterson Diocese.
A sports enthusiast, Dave rooted for the Yankees, Rangers, SHU Pirates and the numerous teams his sons played for; as well as dancing the role of a father in the King Centre’s production for the Nutcracker.
He found relaxation and enjoyment in railroading throughout the Northeast, crabbing and sailing on Barnegat Bay, and touring New Jersey lighthouses. He relished the subs at Jersey Mike’s, milkshakes at Hoffman’s and riding the beach train in Point Pleasant. He was a star at skee ball and treasured the Carousel on the Seaside Boardwalk.
But, his greatest love was gathering his children and grandchildren around the dinner table at his vacation home in Lavallette.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years Patricia (nee Fitzsimmons); three sons, David of Parsippany, Michael and his beloved wife Cassandra of Hillsborough, and Timothy and his beloved wife Kerry of Greenwich; and one daughter, Patricia and her dear husband Ricky Jewell of Bloomingdale. Dave also had five grandchildren: Emma, Ricky and soon-to-be-born Elizabeth Jewell, and Logan and Patrick Cedrone. Also surviving are Dave’s brother Thomas of Chatham Township, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Dave fought the good fight, finished the race and held tight to his faith.
