Jack Allen Brooks of West Milford died on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Care One Wayne following a long illness. He was 81 years old. With him in his final hours were family members and the Rev. Stephen Rozzell, his Church of the Good Shepherd pastor.

Jack was born on Aug. 19, 1939, in El Dorado Arkansas, to Myrion Frances Brooks and Cecil Edwin Hughes.

Before moving to New Jersey Jack lived in Ohio. As a student at Sarahsville High School he played on an award-winning basketball team with his lifelong friend Bill Bond of Pickerington, Ohio.

His interest in sports continued when he lived in West Milford and he coached youth baseball and football teams in the 1980s.

Jack worked at the Ford Motor Company Plants in Mahwah and Edison. After the factories closed down he was employed by the Bergen Record newspaper of Hackensack in the Distribution Department.

He leaves Ann Genader, his life partner and caregiver in his final years; a daughter Kristin (Phil) Brooks Cohen of Fort Myers, Florida; a son Paul Brooks (Samantha) Cape Coral, Florida; and a daughter Karen Hansen (Jim) Austin, Texas, and grandchildren Alex Cohen of Ft. Myers, Florida; Grace Brooks and Abigail Brooks of Mahwah and Tommy Hansen of Austin, Texas; also his extended family members Frank Bussi of Clayton, North Carolina, and Lance and Marcia Deleeuw of West Milford.

Final disposition will be private due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
