John Bosland of West Milford passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 in Brooksville, Florida, while visiting his daughter. He was 102.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1913 in Paterson to Mary (Schraa) and Frank Bosland.

John married Clara Cunningham in 1948 and together they raised their family in Midland Park.

He was self employed as a carpenter working in Midland Park, later moving to West Milford in 1970 where he continued his carpentry business.

John was an active member of the Echo Lake Baptist Church in West Milford, where he served as head usher and a trustee.

John will best be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, especially hunting and fly fishing. He was a professional fly caster and a proud member of the Fisherman’s Hall of Fame.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife Clara in 1982; his sister Sadie Carnaval and his brother Clarence Bosland.

He is survived by his devoted son John Bosland of West Milford; loving daughter Linda C. Riotto of Weeki Wachee, Florida; his three cherished granddaughters: Kristen Marie Rolfe and her husband Paul of Randolph, Alyssa Nicole Stoop and her husband Chris of Jackson, and Katelin Claire Riotto of Bluffton, SC; and his adored great granddaughter Madeline Rose Rolfe.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Echo Lake Baptist Church, 1355 Macopin Road, West Milford. Immediately following the funeral service John will be interred beside his beloved wife at Cedar Heights Cemetery in West Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s name to Trout Unlimited, P.O. Box 7400, Woolly Bugger, WV 25438.
