Michael J. Healy of Warwick, and formerly of Wayne, N.J., passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. He was 82 years old
He was born in Kilgarvan, County Kerry, Ireland on July 20, 1938, to Daniel and Mary (nee Riordan) Healy-Rae.
Michael “Mick” worked as a mechanic for New York City Transit and was a member of the TWU Local 100 and later for the Hackensack Water Company as a mechanic and night watchman.
He also was a member of St. Stephen Church in Warwick.
His family’s statement reads: “Michael was a loving husband, father and family man. His favorite time was spent at family parties or cookouts and he was known for playing his accordion with his brother and brother-in law. Michael attended high school in Ireland he would say because the school in his home town was high on the hill.”
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Margaret Mary “Peggy” Healy (nee Duggan) and his five sons: Michael Healy and his wife Elaine of Brick, N.J.; Daniel Healy of West Milford, N.J.; John Healy of Boonton, N.J.; Patrick Healy and his wife Noreen of Warwick; and Kevin Healy and his wife Laura of Pompton Lakes, N.J. Also surviving are his brother Dennis Healy of Wanaque, N.J., and sisters Hannah Healy of Wayne, N.J., and Cathy O’ Regan and her husband Joseph of Warwick; eight grandchildren: Ryan, Brooke, Fiona, Matthew, Timothy, Savannah, Grace and Sheila, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Jackie Healy-Rae and Daniel Healy-Rae.
The family received friends for visitation on June 15 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 16 at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.
Interment followed in Christ The King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, N.J.
