Richard E. Greenwood, 95, of Oak Ridge in West Milford Township, passed away at his home on Saturday, Nov. 9.
He was born on June 11, 1924, in Oak Ridge, to the late Alice (Schwable) and the late Rea Edward Greenwood.
Richard married Bernice (Thomas) in 1954, and resided in Paterson, moving to Oak Ridge in 1960, where they remained until his passing.
He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1943-45 as the Top Turret Gunner on a B-17 flying fortress.
Richard was an accountant for more than 40 years, and was employed by Curtiss-Wright Air Craft in Fairfield, until his retirement in 1989.
He will best be remembered for being a loving husband and father and putting his family first.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Bernice, his loving children Dale Dunn and her husband David of Jefferson, and Glen Greenwood and his wife Wanna of Oak Ridge; his cherished grandchildren Aaron Grant and his wife Stephanie, Robert Greenwood, Lindsay and Christopher Dunn; and his adored great granddaughters Olivia and Julie Grant.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, Nov. 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road in Newfoundland.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at Holy Faith Lutheran Church, 104 Paradise Road in Oak Ridge, followed by his interment at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Oak Ridge Road.
