Therese Malone of Monroe passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, N.J. She was 87 years old.
Daughter of John J. Collins and Mary Hayes Collins, she was born Dec. 20, 1927, in the Bronx.
Therese earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Education from Good Counsel College, which later became Pace University.
She was a retired Catholic Elementary School Teacher with Our Lady Queen of Peace in Hewitt, N.J.
She was a devote Catholic and member of St. Anastasia Parish of Harriman and a fond supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Therese was the widow of Eugene F. Malone, who passed away in 2010.
Survivors include her children: John and Lisa Malone of Lafayette, Louisiana, Aileen Gunther of Forestburgh, Noreen Ludington and her husband Thomas of Monroe and Thomas Malone and his wife Victoria of Madison, N.J.; her eleven grandchildren: Patrick and Kevin Malone, Jacob and Caitlin Gunther, Mary-Alice Riemer Gunther, Declan, Delia and Aidan Ludington, Julia, Casey and Jack Malone; and her three great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Ginger and Rosalie Riemer.
Therese was predeceased by her brother Daniel Collins.
Therese was a ray of sunshine who spread warmth to all those lucky enough to be in her presence.
Therese was a person who saw all people as equals and treated them with respect and kindness.
Therese was a marvelous conversationalist who could speak on a vast array of subjects. Her sense of humor and quick wit were a joy to her family and friends.
Therese was a loving mother, wife, teacher and friend.
Therese will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
It is our hope that in passing she will find comfort in the loving arms of her husband and the Lord she believed in so deeply.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 25 at St. Anastasia Parish Church.
Interment followed in St. Anastasia Cemetery.
