William Edward Spear of Hewitt, N.J., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018. He was 63 years old.
Born in Paterson, N.J., the son of Woodrow Frank and Sarah Elizabeth (Dickson) Spear, Bill grew up in North Haledon, N.J.
He was a member of the Living Word Church family in Hewitt.
Bill was a licensed well driller and a partner with Slater Brothers Well Drilling in North Haledon, N.J., for 34 years.
Most recently, he worked in maintenance at The Warwick Conference Center.
He was an avid SCUBA diver and enjoyed boating for many years.
As a master mechanic, he enjoyed restoring and driving his 1969 Chevy Nova. One of his greatest pleasures was riding his Harley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra, at home; two sons: Steven Lont and his wife Colleen of New Windsor and Christopher Lont and his wife Lauren of Mountain Top, Pa.; daughter Tara Spear and her companion, Michael Bousquet of Hewitt; seven grandchildren: Jayden, Brianna, Mason, Hunter, Autumn, Richie and Aiden; his sister Nancy Gramp, his brother Robert Spear and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son, Joshua, in March 2018.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Mulder Chapel at The Warwick Conference Center, 62 Warwick Center Road, Warwick, NY.
