The fifth graders in Mrs. Lane’s class at Westbrook School spent December learning about the cultures and traditions of children throughout the world and how they celebrate the holidays. In addition, the class participated in a stocking decorating contest. Many students made stockings as well as decorated them. The students voted on their favorite stocking (other than their own) and three winners were selected. They also participated in a “secret Santa” gift exchange with a twist. Lane had the students wrap the gift and place a clue on top to describe who the gift was from. Stocking contest winners, from left: third place winner, Anthony Santiago; first place winner, Kristen Agostinelli, and second place winner, Brendan Capitelli.
