Highlanders go three sets to win

    WEST MILFORD - West Milford edged Wallkill Valley 3-2 in a non-conference boys' tennis match as the Highlanders went three sets in each of their three winning efforts. The win upped the Highlanders overall record to 3-5. Tyler Warden rallied to defeat Rob Walker 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the meeting of No. 2 singles players. Nick Magio also came from behind at third singles, defeating Hep Wiggins 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-2. The second doubles duo of Brandon Delp and Paul Lacny followed the same script, posting a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Dan Laner and Ryan Wiggins. West Milford roared to a 5-0 win over Passaic Tech in a non-conference boys' tennis match on Thursday as Warden again served blanks in his second singles match against Joshua Santiago, posting scores of 6-0, 6-0. Jay Halvorsen, the Highlanders' ace of staff, coasted to a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jamar Rouse at No. 1 singles with Magio rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win against Christian Avila at third singles. Jeff Binder and Mark Robertiello teamed up to rally to a 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-3) thriller over the team of Marvin Aarons and Eduart Lopez in the No. 1 doubles slot. The second duo of Delp and Sean Hushon defeated Carlos Moreno and Jairo Rivera by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
