Farmers’ Market seeks new vendors, volunteers WEST MILFORD — It's still winter, but the West Milford Farmers' Market Committee is already working on making the 2012 season the best yet and they could use come help. The committee is looking for anyone who is passionate about food and who would like to be part of the team to join in a small or large capacity this year. Perhaps you are a local farmer or have a local product to sell (made or grown within 75 miles of West Milford.) They have room for new vendors to add to the already diverse line up. Go to www.wmfarmersmarket.com to see the 2011 list of vendors. Perhaps you would like to become a committee member? This team gets together one evening a month to guide the overall effort and integrate feedback from customers, vendors, and volunteers at the market. Perhaps you would like to help coordinate the "buy local/artisan/nonprofit" efforts? This person reaches out to and schedules the existing base of local businesses, artisans and non profits to be at the market, and maintains an updated schedule that all market managers and committee members can access and use. Perhaps you can help during a few of the 20 market days to set up, break down, or welcome and count shoppers. The West Milford Farmer's Market is open every Wednesday, from June 13 through Oct. 31, 2012 from 3 to 7 p.m. Join the team, live your passion for local food, help the market thrive, and help to rebuild the local economy and community. Women’s clothing swap at Latitude 41 HEWITT — Clean out your closet and trade out stuff you don’t want anymore or never used for new items that you actually need. Latitude 41, located at 322 Lakeside Road, is holding a clothing swap for women on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. Items can include clothing, shoes, outerwear and accessories. Please bring items that are lightly worn and in good, wearable shape, free of rips and stains. Maybe you have clothing that doesn’t fit anymore or that you’re just tired of. Same with shoes and jewelry. Those are perfect items for a clothing swap. There is no limit as to how many items you can bring or take home but they ask you bring at least 10 items so there is a good variety for everyone to choose from. The leftover items will be donated to a local women’s shelter. There will be many different women at the swap so there will be many sizes too. Mirrors will be set up along with a dressing area. It is recommended you wear a tank top and leggings to layer under whatever you’re wearing that day so you can easily try on tops without having to wait for a fitting room. The cost is $10 for pre-purchased tickets or $15 at the door. That includes entrance to the swap, a mimosa, house wine or soft drink and passed hors d’oeuvres.
