JEFFERSON-The 19th annual celebration of Jefferson Township Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2005 beginning at 11 a.m. with the traditional kick-off parade along Weldon Road in Jefferson Township. The day's events are dedicated to the service men and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and all over the world. Following the opening ceremonies on the main stage and field, 54 arts/crafts/merchandise vendors will be open; a fishing contest will be held; continuous live entertainment for all ages will take place on the field, the main stage, and a small stage; there will be 14 food stands; demonstrations will be offered; children's games of skill will be played and 22 service organizations will offer information. The Jefferson Community Chorus will perform a concert under the stars at 8 p.m. The community band will play at 8:45. Once the 50/50 raffle winner is called, the evening will round out with an aerial display of fireworks. Admission is free all day, and a nominal admission fee will apply at all gates beginning at 6 p.m. Parking is free for the entire event.
