WEST MILFORD – The West Milford Junior Wrestling team won several awards at its Tournament of Champions match recently.
According to the team, Ben Marchetto won 2nd place, Lorenzo Andrade, 5th place, and Spencer Ribitzki also won 5th place.
The dual team finished the season in 4th place.
The team also did well at the Twin County Novice Tournament, held at West Essex High School.
The wrestlers dominated the mats, bringing home 13 first places, five second places, and six third places.
"It is no surprise to me that our kids are having success this year; they practice the way they compete," Head Coach Dustin McConnell said.
Several of the wrestlers qualified for the State Tournament in Trenton, including, Lorenzo Andrade, Jonathan Andrade, Justin Burke, Nicholas Carbone, Zachery Golding, Benjamin Marchetto, and Jeffrey Papienuk.
The team also wants to thank the West Milford High School Wrestling team for hosting a youth night for the athletes.
The team is scheduled to compete Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the high school.
