Haskell — The West Milford Elks Lodge 2236 held a cookout on July 27 for the kids and counselors at Elks Camp Moore for special children, located in Haskell, N.J. Volunteers, including 15 Elks members, served up hundreds of hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon, macaroni and potato salads, and drinks for the kids who attended the camp. One of those attendees was Devon Coyte, known to his Elks friends as Devon the Great. He loved sharing the picnic meal with his parents and friends. Tucked away in the hill of the Ramapo Mountains, Elks Camp Moore offers a vacation away from home for children with special needs. The primary goal of the camp is to further develop the recreational and social skills of each child. In a relaxed and accepting atmosphere, each camper experiences new adventures, lasting friendships, and opportunities that promote independence and greater self-confidence.
