WEST MILFORD — Beautification Day is set for Saturday, April 23, and there is a new T-shirt to commemorate it.
As is the case each year, arts students from Macopin Middle School submit artwork, hoping to be chosen for the T-shirt. This year's winner is Ashley Santangelo. Ashley designed her shirt to feature the school district's mascot, including the "WM' and recycle arrows.
Beautification and Recycle Committee Chairman Bill Weaver told the township council and the public Wednesday night that this year, in addition to having all of the original artwork submitted for the T-shirt contest hang in ShopRite up until Beautification Day, those participating for the annual clean-up detail will receive a coloring book made from all of the art submissions.
Step up
Volunteers are needed for Beautification Day. Call David Stires at 973-728-2724, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to register for road assignments. Volunteers will receive reflective vests, gloves and trash bags for the clean up. They may be picked up at DPW, near the recycling center, during business hours.
Following the clean up, there is a picnic at Bubbling Springs for all who volunteer. There are also prizes awarded to those who find the most unusual, oldest and most valuable roadside trash.
Scout groups, youth sports teams, families all join in and help keep West Milford beautiful.
