The body found on Friday morning at the Long Pond Ironworks State Park is that of 21-year-old Wajhat Yaquoob of Jersey City, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office confirmed Sunday.
Yaquoob man went missing on March 10 after swimming in an area of Long Pond Ironworks State Park in West Milford.
A body was found Friday morning at the Long Pond Ironworks State Park, in the Mine Hole, according to Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said the body was reported at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, April 8 and recovered from the water at approximately 4 p.m.
According to Caryn Shinske, a spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Yaquoob was with four friends on the unseasonably warm day when he jumped from a rock cliff into the Wanaque River at the State Park and failed to surface.
Valdes's press release stated that the prosecutor's office responded to a call from the New Jersey State Park Police that a body had been located at Long Pond Ironworks.
