Eagle scout completes Stations of the Cross

— When Tom Carroll was deciding on his eagle scout project last year, he didn't have to look any further than his church. A member of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Tom walked among the outdoor stations of the cross and knew this was the project for him.

The stations were in much disrepair. Tom decided to completely replace and improve the stations with new ones. The cost was $2,000.

With the help of his dad, Ken, other scout leaders and members of his Troop 146 of Upper Greenwood Lake, the project is complete. New stone bases were installed for each station as well as a new roof over each. Only the posts from the originals were reused.

Based on an original sketch by Kim Ponce, an employee at Lightroom Studios, which is owned by Tom's dad, the station plaques were imported from Italy.

The new stations are now in place and provide a lace of peace and spiritual retreat for all members of the community.

Tom, 17, attends Pope John High School in Sparta.
