With COVID-19 leading to food insecurity in the region, The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley is joining forces with NBC 4 New York/WNBC and Telemundo 47/WNJU as part of week-long Tri-State community appeal.
“The demand for emergency food assistance is unprecedented in our organization’s history,” said Paul A. Stermer, director. “Thousands of people are in need of food assistance for the first time in their lives, and we’re doing everything we can to provide them with wholesome, nutritious food. We could not rise to the challenges of today without partners like NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47.”
The impact on the tri-state’s Spanish-speaking communities has been unprecedented and for so many, it has become harder than ever to put food on the table, said Cristina Schwarz, Telemundo 47 president and general manager.
“Funds donated through Alimentando a Nuestras Familias will stay in the community,” she said. "It really makes a big difference.”
