Free senior health fair scheduled for June 1

    West Milford’s 2nd Annual Road to Senior Resources, a free health and informational resource fair for seniors, family members and caregivers, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, in the West Milford Township High School cafeteria.
    According to a press release from the West Milford Health Advisory Board, the fair will bring together more than 25 speakers, groups and organizations from West Milford and throughout the county to address health, legal, social, safety and financial issues specifically as they relate to seniors.
    A free lunch will be provided including hot and cold entrees.
    According to the release, pre-registration is appreciated, and all those registered will be entered in a free raffle.
    Those wishing to attend can call the Highlands Family Success Center at (973) 506-6575 or Township Councilwoman Marilyn Lichtenberg at (973) 248-5427 to register.
    Health screenings, administered by certified healthcare personnel, will be available throughout the day including, but not limited to: blood pressure, glucose, vision, hearing, spinal assessment, balance and genetic cancer screening.
    A medicine drop box will be available on site to dispose of unused or outdated medications.
    The fair will also have training in CPR skills for grandparents as well as chair yoga.
    Speakers will also offer guidance on maintaining a healthy heart, training for grandparents, advice on Medicare matters, diets and eating behaviors, diabetes, resources for veterans, legal guidance and a multitude of other topics of interest to seniors.
    According to the release, representatives from the following organizations will participate in the fair: West Milford Vision Center, Atlantic Health System; New Vitality, Jag One Physical Therapy, Michelle from Country Flow Yoga, Dr. Gutkind of the WM Pharmacy, Auditory and Hearing Aid Solutions, Megan Scutti; registered dietician with ShopRite, Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Wayne, Dawn Gilligan of AHI Medicare Solutions, Dr. Frank Kielar; Family Physician, The Passaic County Department of Health, Golden Agers/Jetsetters, Elyse Schear from the WM Library, Robert Moshman Esq; attorney specializing in senior law, Anita Nessin; holistic health and nutrition educator, Lakeland Bank, Susan Ahlers; physical liaison of Milford Manor, Antoniette Koshykar; Senior Change Solutions, Kelly Cole; Veterans Administrator, WM Police Officer Casbarro on scam alert, and Doctors DiMaio and Torp of Tanis Chiropractic.
    Door prizes will be distributed.
