Friends pay tribute to late biker with 30- mile ride
West Milford. Friends of the late James Clawson recently got together for a bike ride in his honor.
Some 40 mountain bike riders got together Sept. 8 to remember their friend, and passionate rider, the late James Clawson.
Clawson passed away in August after a long fight with brain cancer.
His sons, Stephen and Shane, put together the memorial ride on Sept. 8 from Clawson’s Clinton Road home to Wawaynda State Park.
Friends said the ride was about 30 miles and participants ranged in age from 20-70.
The route consisted of single track trails that Clawson loved to ride on, and help maintain, according to friends.
“The bottom line is we were all there to show our love and appreciation for our brother ‘Nature Jim’ and the entire Clawson family,” rider Tony Crisafulli said.
Clawson’s sons, Stephen and Shane, said they hope to make the ride an annual event.
