The varsity gymnastics squad earned a third-place finish in the Passaic County Championships held Oct. 16 at West Milford High School.

Wayne Hills won its fifth consecutive county team title with a score of 102.025 points. Wayne Valley finishing second at 96.225 and West Milford had 95.975.

“In finishing with over 95 points, our team has improved more than 10 points from our first meet of the season, which is amazing,” said Lauren Rembrandt, head gymnastics coach.

“We’re very young, with mostly freshmen and sophomores competing. Several have had to adjust coming from dance or other backgrounds to gymnastics very quickly. I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls. They have worked very hard this season.”

West Milford’s Madeline Park finished in the top five in the all-around competition.

Along with Park, the West Milford squad includes senior captains Shannon Dalcais and Stephanie McManus as well as Juliana DeBonis, Michaela Gerst, Lucy Kelly, Allyson Kistler, Alexis LaManna, Tara Lucarello, Sabrina McManus, Rebecca Montena, Maya Maver, Arianna Morran, Gina Vranch, and Olivia Witte.
