Hewitt. Christmas trees sold by Boy Scout Troop 159’s Christmas trees sold out fast - all 250 of them
It’s official: The Our Lady Queen of Peace Boy Scout Troop 159 Christmas tree lot is sold out.
Let’s let Scoutmaster Lee Szolusha explain:
“This year was a record year for tree sales. We get 250 trees every year from a small tree farm in Pennsylvania. The trees are cut the weekend right before Thanksgiving and delivered to us on Monday or Tuesday. We prepare the tree lot and always open that first weekend after the holiday.
“This year we sold 130 of the 250 trees the first weekend we were open. The boys were ready to bail trees and using their skills in knot tying, the scouts skillfully fastened the trees to the patron’s vehicles. The boys especially like pickup trucks (no tying necessary).
“The scout tree lot has become well known for the tree quality and world-class friendly service. The money raised in part, funds scouting trips and necessary gear. The local Knights of Columbus Council 6139 also work with the boys and also share in the profits to help support local residents and other groups in need.
“The scouts of troop 159 would like to thank everyone who purchased a tree(s), assisted on the lot, and those who just gave a waive or friendly beep of their car horn.
“Merry Christmas from Troop 159.”
