Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Chief James DeVore announced that approximately 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 3, police responded to 120 Lincoln Ave. in Hewitt to a report of a motor vehicle accident.
According to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office, upon arrival officers discovered that a 1999 BMW 323, operated by Alexander P. Vanker, of West Milford, had left the roadway and traveled up an embankment and onto and across the front lawn of the residence located at 120 Lincoln Ave. before coming to rest in the driveway.
At the time of the crash, the BMW was occupied by the driver and two other individuals. One of the passengers, Daniel P. Kearney, 19, of West Milford, was transported to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, where he was pronounced deceased at 11:19 p.m.
The second passenger, Kyle L. Guell, 19, of West Milford was transported to St. Joseph University Medical Center in Paterson where he was receiving treatment for serious injuries.
The Prosecutor’s Office report continuing, said no charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. The statement said more information will be released when it becomes available.
