WEST MILFORD — The West Milford High School Highlander Indoor Color Guard is gearing up for 2016 by hosting their first indoor guard event of the season on Sunday, Jan. 17, at West Milford High School.
The “Color Guard Preview in the Highlands” show will feature the 2016 debut of many of the tri-state area’s finest Indoor Guards, Scholastic and Independent Color Guards, as well as a performance by the Highlander Pipes and Drums.
According to Trish O'Shea, co-director of the WMHS Color Guard, “West Milford High School’s indoor guard is coming off one of their most successful seasons in the school’s history.”
Some of their accomplishments over the past few years include:
Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network (MAIN)- Silver Medalist 2015, Scholastic Region A Champions 2007
Winter Guard International (WGI) Salem, MA/Trumbull CT- Regional Finalists 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008
WGI Salem- Regional Champions 2009
WGI World Championships- Semi Finalists 2011, 2010
WGI Eastern Championship- Finalist 2015,
Musical Arts Conference (MAC)- Silver Medalist 2015,
O’Shea said the Indoor Guard will take their 2016 production, “Every Heart,” to the WGI South Brunswick and Eastern Championships, as well as to an overnight trip to the WGI Salem (Massachusetts) Regional in the near future. The Highlander Indoor Guard will also defend their two-time consecutive silver medal wins at the MAC Championships in Trumbull, Connecticut, this April.
