WEST MILFORD ‑‑ The West Milford High School Highlander Marching Band wrapped up their victorious 2017 season with their final competition on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the USBands National Championships in Allentown, PA.
The Highlanders once again came home triumphant, winning Third Place for Group 5A, as well as Caption Awards for Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, and Best Overall Effect.
Dr. Brian Mc Laughlin, director of bands, stated in a message sent to band members and families: “CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! Another Highlander Marching Band season is in the books! And what an amazing season it was! We are so very proud of the efforts of each band member, and you should be very proud!” McLaughlin then listed the Band’s extraordinary accomplishments via statistics for the 2017 Season, which included winning the USBands State Championship last month at Rutgers University High Point Stadium.

Highlanders in the CommunityThe Highlander Marching Band will present an indoor exhibition version of their show on Saturday, Nov. 11 as they host the “18th Annual Military Concert and Tattoo” at the West Milford High School Gym at 6:30 p.m.
This is the marching band’s biggest fundraiser, and helps fund the school’s band programs- including the various other esteemed instrumental ensembles that are offered through the WMHS music department and supported by the Band Parents Association. The Highlander Band will also be collecting non-perishable food items at the door at this event in support of local food pantries in the community.
The 2017 honoree for the “18th Annual Military Concert and Tattoo” is WMHS Graduate and former Highlander Band Drum Sergeant, US Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. /Recruiting Manager Jeremy Curcio. Curcio will represent the active duty military personnel being honored this year.
