Highlanders' Tattoo is a real crowd pleaser

The West Milford Highlander band did it again. After an outstanding season, the band hosted its 15th annual tattoo on Nov. 15 to a packed crowd.

A military tattoo brings bands together to honor veterans and play patriotic music. The Highlander tattoo was just that.

Eighteen veterans were honored by the Highlanders and the crowd (for a list of honorees, go to westmilfordmessenger.com). The veterans were announced individually with a description of their military service, and escorted into the concert by Highlander Drum Majors Megan Hogan, Melissa Martinique and Jonathan Romeo.

The Highlander Marching Band performed their award-winning 2014 Field Show, “Time.” In addition, the Highlanders joined forces with the Clifton High School Mustang Band, playing a medley of military branch hymns. All veterans in the audience were invited to stand and be recognized as their branch of service’s hymn was played.

The event was a tribute to all veterans present, filled with music provided by the many talented musicians.
