WEST MILFORD — Over the last three weeks, the Maple Road School Student Council has collected items for the Homeless Bus Project, which provides hot food and warm clothing to homeless adults and children. Through the incredible generosity of the Maple Road family, they were able to fill the bus with snacks, soups, warm socks, gloves and toiletries.
The Student Council also hosted a "Sandwich Day" on Nov. 13, where each family was asked to donate one sandwich to help feed the homeless. When the final count was in, more than 250 sandwiches were donated.
Founded in 1992 by Mark Landgrebe, Homeless Bus, Inc. has made more than 1,000 runs to both Paterson and New York City. From a 17-passenger van, Mark and his team have been providing hot food, clothing, toiletries, and other immediate needs to those requesting their support every Saturday evening for more than two decades. Regularly feeding over 200 homeless men and women per run, Homeless Bus stops wherever the homeless people gather.
