WEST MILFORD — Every year, West Milford High School hosts a health fair, an event where various organizations and businesses set up booths promoting health and wellness. Throughout the day, students can come to the gymnasium during their gym and lunch period to grab informational pamphlets and promotional items from each booth in order to learn about what resources are available in the community.
There were many different booths set up at this event on Tuesday, June 6, ranging from Alcoholic Anonymous and West Milford CASA (Community Against Substance Abuse), to Lakeland Bank and West Milford Library.
Not only does health and wellness refer to helping those with substance abuse issues, but it also includes information concerning fitness, aromatherapy, and living a generally healthy lifestyle.
The NJ Sharing Network, for example, promotes becoming an organ donor, as well as volunteering at their office and participating in their annual 5K celebration of Life and Golf Classic, while the ShopRite of Warwick informs students on food allergies and creating a healthy diet. Others, such as The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders and Passaic County Women's Center promotes support for those with eating disorder and awareness of sexual and domestic violence.
No matter what sort of information you're looking for, this once-a-year event has it and brings the students together with the community.
