WEST MILFORD — The West Milford Health Department will be holding a blood-screening program called the “S.M.A.C Test” Sequential Multiple and Analysis Test. Registration will take place on Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Milford Township Meeting Room.

The blood test date is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Town Hall Meeting Room for residents 16 years and older. Legal guardian or parent must register minors and must be present during testing. Minor test results must be sent to a doctor.

The test is comprised of a computerized analysis of a mandatory 12-hour fasting blood sample. The results of S.M.A.C. test results may alert you and your physician of a health problem. This test contains several studies including a complete blood count (CBC) and blood chemistry. The cardiac profile includes testing for LDL and HDL cholesterol. These results are generated into a formula called CHD risk ratio, which analyzes your risk of having a cardiac problem. The test results may also indicate problems with anemia, high blood sugar or high blood cholesterol.

The cost is $20. No refunds are available and there is no make-up date for the testing.
