Leatherneck is the place to get things fixed

WEST MILFORD — Leatherneck Heavy Truck and Equipment Service is the place to go for all kinds of mechanical repairs: medium and heavy trucks, autos, motorcycles and smaller motorized vehicles, too.
"We service anything, from a chain saw to a tractor trailer — we're a full service repair facility," said owner Troy Osborne.
They are ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified, the gold standard that certifies all auto and truck technicians.
Mechanical skill seems to run in the family. Osborne's dad was a truck mechanic who worked for Cablevision. Osborne himself is a master medium and heavy truck technician as well as a master auto technician. He was originally trained by Ford on autos and Mack/Volvo on trucks.
Maintaining the fleetCompanies like Verizon, Downes and Son Land Clearing and K.J. Renzland Excavating rely on Leatherneck for fleet maintenance. The shop services ambulances, police and fire vehicles. They repair excavators and bulldozers, too, and can alter equipment to suit the client. Diesel and heavy equipment machines with new technology are not a problem for their state-of-the-art electronic diagnostic equipment. Leatherneck also services trailers, ATVs and all landscaping equipment.
Joe Colucci, owner of Colucci Bros Landscaping, is a client of Leatherneck. Colucci said he likes the way Osborne does business.
"They fix all my trucks and (I have) no complaints whatsoever," said Colucci. "They're very straightforward with price and there are no hidden fees. I'm 100 percent happy with their work — professionally they're at the top."
Osborne and his eight full-time employees at Leatherneck work in a large three-bay shop, about 6,000 sq. feet with 25-foot high ceilings to accommodate heavy equipment. They make their own hydraulic hoses and have a mobile service truck. The shop, which is near Greenwood Lake, also works on boats.
Leatherneck mottoThe shop has a motto: Complaint, cause, correction, that's the Leatherneck direction," meaning customers come in with a complaint about their equipment, and Leatherneck finds the cause and corrects it.
Their website says it best. "Here at Leatherneck Inc., we pride ourselves on being able to fix even the most complicated machines. We have the experience to provide everything from basic repairs to unique requests and alterations of your equipment. We guarantee you will be totally satisfied with our work, period. No exceptions."
"Leatherneck" in the company name refers to Osborne's eight-year service as a Marine. He served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama and The Philippines as an infantry machine gunner.
Osborne has three daughters, Patricia, 24; Theresa, 19; and Briana, 17, and says although they're not in the business, they all have some knowledge and his oldest knows how to do some repairs herself.
Hey, you never know.
