WEST MILFORD - Several members of Echo Lake Baptist Church on Macopin Road, volunteered their time on Dec. 1 to help Samaritan's Purse organization, according to a press release from the church.
According to the release, each year thousands of churches participate in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry through Samaritan’s Purse.
The release said the shoeboxes are filled with gifts and needed necessities and then distributed around the world to children in need.
On Dec. 1, the group traveled to a processing facility just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, to assist in the inspecting, packing and shipping of 54,156 shoeboxes headed for Malawi, Africa.
Echo Lake Church has been participating with this ministry for many years packing shoeboxes, the release said.
This year, in addition to volunteering at the processing center, they sent 77 shoeboxes packed by members of the church.
According to the release, it is just one way the folks at Echo Lake are doing their part to bring hope to the world.
The church invites anyone who wants to make an impact in the community and the world to stop into the church on Sundays at 10:30 a.m., or visit www.EchoLakeBaptist.com.
