WEST MILFORD — Beautification Day is a true event in West Milford. More than 1,000 volunteers - sports teams, scout troops, neighbors - come out and clean up the township. There's lots of trash and recyclables discovered after the snow melts, although there wasn't much of that this winter, so on Saturday, April 23, the township residents will be out in force to clean it all up.
Grab your gloves and get out there
Volunteers are urged to call Dave Stires, recycling coordinator, at 973-728-2724 to sign up for Beautification Day. Choose a street or be assigned one. Trash bags, recycling bags and gloves, as well as that coveted T-shirt designed each year by a West Milford student, will be supplied to all volunteers. Pick up the supplies Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The actual clean up will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 23. From noon to 3 p.m., there will be a picnic for all who participated in Beautification Day at Bubbling Springs. Prizes will be awarded to the volunteers who found the most unusual, oldest and most valuable piece along the roadways. Door prizes will also be given out. If it rains, the whole event takes place on Sunday, April 24.
Make West Milford sparkle this weekend!
