Oak Ridge — Paradise Knoll Resource Room teacher Samantha Russo recently conducted an extension activity with her students, having them write letters to Marines stationed in Hawaii for Veterans Day. As happy as the Marines were to receive the letters, the students were just as thrilled to hear from the Marines.
In their letter back to Russo, the Marines said they read the letters over and over and smiled the whole time.
Their letter said:
"Ms. Russo’s Class,
The Marines From 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines, Headquarters and Service Company, Motor Transport Platoon, would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts! It means a lot seeing that you’ve taken the time and hard work to put this together. You did an amazing thing by writing us all these letters for this Veterans Day. We have all read them over and over and we are all left with a huge smile on our faces! We appreciate this so much, and we cannot say thank you enough! Even though we miss our families and friends back home, reading your letters make us realize why we do what we do.
Sincerely,
Cpl. Edelbach, Justin
Quality Control Chief
