WEST MILFORD — On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Marshall Hill School’s new writing initiative, "The Write Type of Writing Mentors," was spotlighted by public access station channel 8 for the show "Classroom Close-Up NJ."
Mary Duffy and Shawn Rhinesmith received a grant for the writing program, which has been in existence for two years. It has taken off with great success. Classroom Close-Up searches out New Jersey schools with best practice programs to showcase on their television show.
The program’s positive impact on the Marshall Hill School include:
creating an awareness for improvement in all students ability to write well
creating effective teacher collaboration at the highest level
creating a school/classroom environment of peer respect and rapport.
Everyone at Marshall Hill was so excited. The executive producer, the audio/sound engineer and the director of photography taped for a full 6 1/2 hours, for the five minute segment which will air sometime in March or April. Stay tuned.
Marshall Hill Principal Michael McCormick said he was very proud of the writing program, Duffy and Rhinesmith and all their students. He was especially pleased that the producer and director complimented Marshall Hill School for being so innovative, creative and such a wonderful host.
